The Gandhi Memorial Museum is one of the distinct places to be visited in Madurai. This Musuem is one of the rare living memorial of “The Father of India”

Gandhi Museum depicts the highlights of the freedom struggle and contains a picture gallery of the Gandhian movement. The ground floor of the museum also houses a unique collection of stamps and letters at the Philatelic Museum, dedicated to Gandhi.

This is situated in a quiet place, and contains a “Visual Biography of Bapuji” containing photos, paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, and quotations.It has 124 rare photographs depicting various phases of Mahatma Gandhi right from his childhood days until being taken to the crematorium. Museum also contains 100 original artifacts used by Gandhiji. There is a Blood Stained Cloth of Mahatma Gandhi used by him on the day of his assassination, although it is also said that this is only a replica and not the original.
