St. Mary’s Church in Madurai, Tamilnadu, India was first constructed in 1840 and is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Madurai. It is one of the oldest Roman Catholic churches in India, its two elegant Roman style bell tower are visible from a distance.
It is known for its architectural splendour with its magnificent spires rising to the skies. To make the church more spacious, construction of a new church in Gothic style was planned. It is Well worth a look as it is close by to the palace and Painted in white and looks a very good inside with calm atmosphere. It also has some excellent artworks.
